Nation of Neighbors Challenge · The Nashua New Hampshire Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Thank you for participating in the A Nation of Neighbors Challenge. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and what choices you have when you use our website.
Our goal is to create a safe, encouraging space where participants can log acts of neighborly service without exposing private information about themselves or others.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, username or display name, password (stored securely), your organization, group, congregation, school, team, or community (if applicable), and your city, state, or general location (if applicable).
Challenge Activity
When you participate in the challenge, we may collect information related to your logged acts of service, such as the category of service performed, the date an act of service was completed, a brief description of the act of service, a short story or note (if you choose to provide one), your progress toward the challenge goal, and totals for individuals, teams, groups, or communities.
Automatically Collected Information
Like most websites, we may automatically collect certain technical information when you visit or use the site, such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages visited, date and time of visit, referring website, and general usage activity. This information helps us operate the website, troubleshoot problems, understand usage, and improve the challenge experience.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We may use cookies or similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, protect the site, measure usage, and improve functionality. You may be able to disable cookies through your browser settings, but some parts of the website may not work properly if cookies are disabled.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to: create and manage user accounts; allow participants to log acts of service; track progress toward the challenge goal; display individual, group, or community progress (depending on site settings); send account-related messages; provide technical support; prevent fraud, misuse, or unauthorized access; improve the website and challenge experience; and comply with legal obligations.
3. What Information May Be Visible to Others
Depending on how the challenge is set up, some information may be visible to other participants, group leaders, administrators, or the public. This may include your display name, your group, team, or community, your number of completed acts, your progress toward the challenge goal, general categories of service completed, and short service descriptions (if this feature is enabled). We will not intentionally display your email address, password, private account information, or sensitive personal information publicly.
4. Aggregated and Anonymous Information
We may share or display aggregated or de-identified information, such as total acts of service completed by all participants, total acts completed by a group or community, most common categories of service, and general examples of service that do not identify specific people. Aggregated or de-identified information does not identify you personally.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
With Service Providers
We may share information with trusted vendors who help us operate the website, such as hosting providers, email services, analytics providers, security tools, or account management systems. These providers are allowed to use the information only to provide services to us.
With Group or Challenge Administrators
If you participate as part of a group, organization, congregation, school, workplace, neighborhood, or team, certain information may be available to designated administrators for that group. This may include your name, email address, participation status, progress, and logged activity.
For Legal or Safety Reasons
We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to comply with law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or legal process; protect the rights, safety, or property of participants, neighbors, the public, our organization, or others; investigate suspected fraud, abuse, security issues, or misuse of the website; or enforce our Terms of Use or community guidelines.
With Your Consent
We may share information in other ways if you give us permission.
6. Children's Privacy
This website is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. Users under 13 should not create an account or submit personal information without permission from a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without required consent, we will take steps to delete that information. Parents or guardians who believe that a child has submitted personal information may contact us at shaylyn [dot] garrett [dot] lds [at] gmail [dot] com. If this challenge is offered to families, youth groups, schools, or children, additional parental consent procedures may be required before children can create accounts or participate online.
7. Protecting Other People's Privacy
Because this website is about acts of service, users may be tempted to describe people they helped. Please protect the privacy and dignity of the people you serve.
Do not post:

- Photos of other people without permission
- Medical, mental health, disability, financial, family, or immigration information
- Details about grief, crisis, poverty, loneliness, conflict, or other sensitive situations

- Anything that could embarrass, expose, or identify someone who did not agree to be included
When in doubt, keep your description general.
8. Photos, Stories, and Testimonials
If the website allows photos, stories, testimonials, or public comments, you are responsible for making sure you have permission to share anything involving another person. We may remove content that includes private information, identifies another person without permission, appears unsafe, or does not fit the purpose of the challenge. By submitting a story, testimonial, comment, or photo, you give us permission to use it for challenge-related purposes, unless otherwise stated. We may edit submissions for length, clarity, privacy, or safety.
9. Emails and Communications
We may send you emails related to your account or participation in the challenge, such as account confirmation, password reset messages, challenge reminders, progress updates, administrative announcements, and safety or policy updates. You may unsubscribe from optional promotional or reminder emails by using the unsubscribe link or contacting us. You may still receive important account-related or administrative messages.
10. Data Security

11. Data Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to operate the challenge, provide the website, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain accurate records. After the challenge ends, we may retain certain records, such as aggregate participation totals, administrative records, or de-identified data. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us at shaylyn [dot] garrett [dot] lds [at] gmail [dot] com. We may need to retain limited information when required for legal, security, or administrative purposes.
12. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. We may use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the website. These tools may collect information such as pages visited, time spent on the site, device type, browser type, and general location. We use this information to improve the website and understand participation trends.
15. Community Guidelines and Content Removal
We may review, edit, hide, or remove user-submitted content if we believe it reveals private information about another person, identifies a service recipient without permission, includes inappropriate, unsafe, or harmful content, violates the purpose of the challenge, violates our Terms of Use or community guidelines, or creates legal, privacy, or safety concerns. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that misuse the website.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If changes are significant, we may provide additional notice, such as by email or a notice on the website.
